Thank you for your interest in the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital Internal Medicine and Pediatrics Residency program. We understand these are extraordinary times and recognize the increased amount of stress the application and match process has placed on you this year. We want to make sure you are comfortable with our process and maintain as much transparency with this process as possible.

We are the main hospital affiliated with the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. All applications are processed through The Electronic Residency Application Service® (ERAS®) and we participate in the National Resident Matching Program® (NRMP®). To ensure that we have sufficient time to review your application, the majority of your application should be uploaded by September 27, 2023.

HOW WE EVALUATE APPLICATIONS:

Our residency program conducts a holistic review of each application as we believe that each physician to be multifaceted beyond singular testing points such as the USMLE exams.  Our holistic review evaluates six primary components within the application, and we are dedicated to taking the time to evaluate each application thorough from the following:

  • Academic and Clinical Performance

  • Commitment to Community Service

  • Demonstration of Leadership

  • Pursuit of Scholarly Activity

  • Demonstration of excellence via Letters of Recommendation

  • Personal Statement

We believe strongly in the growth mindset and that medical education is a continuum of growth and we evaluate applicants’ ability not only to excel but also ability to overcome challenges and barriers.   In addition, we as a program are committed to recruiting a diverse group of trainees who uphold our ideals and beliefs in the importance of health equity and social justice, and dedication to dismantling the structures that perpetuate racism in medicine and society.
