Where We Rotate

Where we work

 The University of Miami/Miller School of Medicine Medical Campus, one of the largest medical campuses in the Southeastern United States, comprises over 35 buildings within the 67-acre University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital complex located in the center of Miami.  Our residents regularly rotate through the following facilities:

 

  • Jackson Memorial Medical Center (JMH) http://www.jhsmiami.org/:  This serves as the main training ground for our residents.  The hospital 1550 beds and serves as the tertiary referral center for South Florida, the Caribbean, and Central and South America.  As such, residents gain first-hand experience with unique clinical cases.  Furthermore, as the main teaching hospital for the University of Miami, residents closely work with researchers from the various clinical subspecialties.

 

  • The Holtz Center for Maternal and Child Health http://www.jhsmiami.org/body.cfm?id=154:  This 254 bed Children’s Hospital comprises one of many facilities on the Jackson Memorial Medical Center complex.  There are inpatient units for infants/toddlers, school-age children, adolescents, well newborns, as well as the Neonatal Intensive Care Units (Levels I, II, III), the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (including its step-down unit), and the Children's Clinical Immunology Unit.

 

  • Miami Veterans Affairs Medical Center http://www.miami.va.gov/:  Located across the street from JMH, the VA Hospital holds more than 750 beds, including a 240-bed nursing home.  Residents rotate here one their ward months, geriatrics rotation, subspecialty rotations, and coronary care unit rotation. The VA houses some of our top educators and is the site of a flourishing research community.

 

  • The University of Miami Hospital (UMH) http://umiamihospital.com/:  The University of Miami changed the face of modern health care in South Florida when it purchased Cedars Medical Center in late 2007.  The 560-bed facility was renamed University of Miami Hospital and became the region’s first university-owned, multi-specialty, acute care hospital and the flagship facility of UHealth – University of Miami Health System.  With 560 private rooms, UMH provides patients with personalized treatment in a high-quality environment.
