Ankur was born and raised in Baltimore, MD. He is an only child and attained his BS in Biology at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County. Throughout undergrad, Ankur developed his passion for global health by fundraising for and leading mission efforts to Panama in 2014 and 2015. He later earned his MD from the University of Maryland School of Medicine, where he engaged in electives focused on the social determinants of health, humanism in medicine, and international medicine in India. He developed his passion for the healthcare of underserved populations in limited-resource areas of the world, and for practicing medicine with a holistic approach to patient care.
He chose Med-Peds based on the leadership, clinical prowess, and deep understanding of patients that he witnessed many Med-Peds physicians demonstrate. He hopes to become one of those role-models in the future. He was drawn to Jackson’s Med/Peds program for its deep-rooted commitment to the local underserved community, the complexity of the patients and rigorous training, and the strong global health opportunities available. Also, he just had to get out of Maryland and where better to go than Miami!
In residency, he has been a co-leader of the Med Peds Clinic Advanced Care Planning Curriculum, a QI project developed by his now-fiancé, Bethany, and learned of his love for medical education through the many teaching opportunities throughout the years. He is currently looking for Med-Peds hospitalist jobs upon graduation from residency.
When not at work, you can find Ankur at local beverage establishments, working on his car, enjoying his hobby of photography, exploring the food and culture of the city, or taking care of his plants.
